Ski Farellones
Hotel Posada de Farellones |
The wonderful sport of skiing was first practiced in Chile in the 1930’s, at the Farellones village, when the first wooden skies were brought from Switzerland.
Those were years of great effort for those pioneering this activity and, consequently, one of these men, Antonio Padrós, succeeded in opening one of Farellones’ first hotels, Posada de Farellones, which some years later received the royal visit of the Duchess of Kent, for whom a great mountain luncheon was prepared.
Eventually, this village became a popular destination for skiers as the first ski lift was built on Farellones’ slopes, a place that would later become the renowned El Colorado – Farellones Ski Resort, the largest in South America.
Posada de Farellones hotel is found amid Farellones’ single forest, some 2,400m above sea level and only 36km away from Santiago, the capital of Chile.
Being in a privileged location, this hotel offers its guests a handy connection to Chile’s three main ski centres, which together cover the largest ski area in South America. These are La Parva, El Colorado – Farellones and Valle Nevado.
Here skiers will be able to enjoy the majestic view of sky-scraping mountains surrounding the hotel, the most modern ski lifts available in the country and excellent ski tracks, ideal for all kinds of skiers.
We are located 36km away from Santiago, just a 45 minute drive! The Ski Centres La Parva and El Colorado are 5 and 6km respectively away from Posada de Farellones. It takes 20 minutes to drive 13km to Valle Nevado. Just 1,500m away is the Farellones car park, where the ski lifts begin that connect Farellones village and El Colorado.
